Gym last night
I invested in Running for Women by Kara Goucher about a month ago and I started her beginners 5k and runners’ strength programmes last night.
1 mile run - 13 minutes = DONE (wasn’t really pleased with that time but it was my first time running for about a month, got to take it easy!)
Strength training A = DONE
I did lots of things that sound really manly and scary like the one-leg Russian deadlift (which sounds a LOT worse than it is). Had to deviate from the plan slightly firstly because I can’t do pull-ups (did press-ups instead on the advice of the lovely gym lady) and secondly because of the MASSIVE men who were benchpressing twice my weight and generally hogging the weights section of the gym. Luckily my gym has two free weights sections - one with the massive weights generally used by men with biceps as big as their heads, and another where the heaviest dumbbell is 7kg and is mostly used by girls and non-meat-head guys so I went into that section and did some exercises which I think worked the same muscles.
On a different note, I finished my translation assignment yesterday, a whole 4 days before the deadline. Now I can start attacking all the other work I’ve been ignoring…
