Run. Eat. Repeat.

I'm Sophie, a 22 year old Londoner currently studying in Manchester. I have just got back from a year living in France where my love for food has been joined by a new-found lust for running.

Happy New Year!

It’s that time of year again… the beginning.

This year, instead of the optimism and excitement I usually feel I am mostly feeling something rather different. I’ve got The Fear. In the next 18 days I need to write a 3000 word essay (in French) and revise for (and take) 2 exams. A quarter of my grade for this year will be decided in the next 3 weeks. I know it will get done - I don’t really have a choice!- but I can’t help absolutely bricking it anyway.

In slightly more cheerful news, I have made several New Year’s Resolutions! Or I suppose you could call them New Year Objectives, as some of them I don’t intend to do straight away:

1. Graduate. This is pretty much a given, as even if there was a massive catastrophe I should scrape at least a 3rd in my degree. A pass is a pass!

2. Run. I will run 3 times a week from 9th Jan (I left my running shoes in Manchester!). I will do intervals. I will run in the rain. I will run for more than 30 minutes without walking/stopping. I will complete a 10k

3. Weight train. I will weight train twice a week from 9th Jan (gym membership in Manchester). Strong is the new sexy.

4. Lose weight. I aim to get under 140lbs by my birthday (end of April) by losing around 2lbs a week. Mainly I want to fit back into my jeans!!

5. Give up meat. I’ve always wanted to give up meat for Lent. This is the year. Feb 22nd-April 6th: meat-and-fishless.

6. Learn another language. I asked for a Spanish course for Christmas which I plan to begin when my final exams are over (ie June).

And I think that’s about it really! Plenty to be getting on with, eh? What resolutions did you make?
